कोई भी नाटक तब बहुत पसंद आता है जब हम भूल जाते हैं कि ये नाटक है और लगता है कि अरे यार! ये नाटक कैसे हो सकता है? ये तो बातें हैं जो इन दो पात्रों, नहीं.. लोगों के बीच होनी ही थी। इतना organic flow है इस नाटक का और यही इसकी सबसे सुंदर बात है। 

Frankie और Johnny दोनों एक restaurant में काम करते हैं। Johnny cook है और Frankie waitress और दोनों बहुत दिनों से एक दूसरे के लिए कुछ फ़ील करते है। Johnny वैसे तो बहुत outspoken है पर उसके पीछे की vulnerability भी है जो सुंदर तरीके से Act 2 में निकल कर आती है।

Frankie भी vulnerable है वो पर वो strong होने का झूठ नहीं बोलती। दोनों बाकी सारी बात झूठ बोलते हैं एक दूसरे से जब पहली डेट के बाद Frankie के घर आते हैं।

और दोनों की बातचीत। सारा खेल इसपर टिका है और क्या उम्दा खेला है। एक एक dialogue इतना खूबसूरत है कि समझ में आता है ये basic human emotions पर बेस्ड है। एक ऐसा नाटक जिसके भीतर नाटकीयता ना के बराबर है। 

और जो moments हैं। एक टाइम पर Frankie कहती है Johnny से कि चले जाओ पर वो जिद्दी है और नहीं जाता। तब Frankie reveal करती है कि वो चाहती थी कि वो जाए और फिर उसे उससे मिलने की बहुत इच्छा हो। वो बस उस फीलिंग को महसूस करना चाहती थी। और तभी महसूस होता है कि ऐसे झूठ क्या हम असल जीवन में नहीं बोलते। ये एक dialogue Frankie को हमारे लिए और real बना देता है। 

और एक conversation है जिसमे वो एक दूसरे से उम्र के बारे मे झूठ बोलते हैं। और वो बहुत सुंदर है।

Johnny जहाँ बहुत impulsive है और जो भी मन मे आता है वही कह देता है, moment to moment जीता है जबकि Frankie कहती है कि ऐसे नहीं जिया जा सकता। और इस पर एक लंबी discussion है जिसका conclusion वही है जो असल ज़िंदगी मे होता है। (बताऊँगा नहीं!!)

सबसे अच्छी बात है हर conversation के topic में दोनों के बीच कुछ अंतर निकलता है लेकिन वो conclude होता है – किसी ना किसी common point पर और उसमे जो सच निकलकर आता है इस दुनिया का – वो ड्रामा बहुत सुंदर है।

और जो topics touch होते हैं वो attractive हैं – अकेलापन, शादी, बच्चे, लाइफ, middle -age, काम, सुंदरता, लोग, संबंध etc.

Johnny   - I'm sorry. I didn't know. 
Frankie   - Acting is an art. It's a responsibility. It's a privilege.

 

Johnny   - There's a full moon! You can just see it between the buildings. Will you look at that! Now that's what I call beautiful!
Frankie   - I ordered it just for you. Macy's. Twenty-five bucks an hour.

 

I want to kill myself sometimes when I think I'm the only person in the world and the part of me that feels that way is trapped inside this body that only bumps into other bodies without ever connecting with the only other person in the world trapped inside of them. We gotta connect. We just have to. Or we die.

 

Everybody has armor. They’d be dead if they didn’t.

 

You're only telling me you don't love me so you don't have to find out if you could. Just because you've given up on the possibility, I'm not going to let you drag me down with you. You're coming up to my level if I have to pull you by the hair.

 

Johnny   - It's not cruelty. It's a feeling I don't matter. That nobody hears me. I'm drowning. I'm trying to swim back to shore but there's this tremendous undertow and I'm not getting anywhere. My arms and legs are going a mile a minute but they aren't taking my any closer to where I want to be. 
Frankie   - Where's that?
Johnny    - With you.

 

It scares people how much we really know one another, so we pretend we don't. You know me. You've known me all your life. Only now I'm here. Take me. Use me. Try me.

 

All I ask back is that you use your capacity to be everyone and everything for me. It's within you.

 

We have a chance to make everything turn out all right again. Turn our back on everything that went wrong. We can begin right now and all over again but only if we begin right now, this minute, this room and us.
